Kate DiCamillo

Kate DiCamillo is the author of numerous books for children, including The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures, both of which received a Newbery Medal; Because of Winn-Dixie, which received a Newbery Honor; The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, which won a Boston Globe-Horn Book award; The Magician’s Elephant; and six books starring Mercy Watson, including the Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor Book Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride. She is the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature for 2014—2015, and her platform is “Stories Connect Us.” Kate DiCamillo says about stories, “When we read together, we connect. Together, we see the world. Together, we see one another.” She lives in Minneapolis.
